HW 10.1 Laser Cut Yeti

I was really excited about using the laser cutter in our last class. This is a piece of technology that I have not used, but the potential of which I've thought about a lot before. The clean die-cut or neatly etched surfaces that are possible with this machine and an illustrator file are unendingly appealing. I was lucky enough to pair with someone who had experience with the laser cutter (shout out to Teny!) and I remembered a bit of illustrator having not used it in some years. So this was a very comfortable exercise with a low barrier for entry. I am really excited to use this machine more. I like the idea of using laser cut objects for mixed media work, animation, and for really cool business cards too. And yetis, always more yetis.

  1. Vanessa,

It's so nice to see the yeti come to life! It's always nice to pair up with someone that knows a little bit more about unfamiliar programs. You've been such a great help whenever we work in teams too! I also agree that the laser cutter has so much versatility, it can be used for so many different creative explorations. I think it would be interesting for you to push the yeti further and create an installation of cut yeti's, impeding space!
