HW 11.1 3D ME

At the NAEA conference in Chicago I was 3D scanned using an Xbox 360 Kinect Sensor. There's a free program called ReconstructMe or another free program called Saknect to scan using the Kinect through a computer. I put the file into Tinkercad, and then that file into the MakerBot software in the Myers Media Lab. I printed a tiny version of myself, which was pretty thrilling. It's as close to becoming an action figure as I have ever been. Also, I decided not to removed the 3D printed "raft" because I sort of thought it looked charming as a base for this piece. Here's some photo evidence:

  1. Hi Vanessa, this is so neat! I would love to learn more about using Xbox 360 Kinect to create models, what a fun way to get people into 3D printing! (I've also always wanted to be an action figure, so this is especially exciting).

If you wouldn't mind, I would love it if you would take a look at my lesson plans! If you search lesson plans on my blog, there are three to check out: Drawing – The New and The Old, Lasercutting & Letter Forms, and Local Plants Survey. I would be happy to check out your lessons too if you would like! Many thanks :)
