My materials are usually a combination of more rudimentary media and technology - like stop motion animation using coloured pencil drawings or paper cut, and then animated in Flash or Final Cut; an interactive live photo booth; or scanning post-it notes. I have also worked extensively with metal and wood shop technology - I have an affinity for power tools. I favour a labourious process. I like to obsess over details for long periods of time, and to really immerse myself in my process when making art. I believe strongly in the handmade, the use of craft, and the ability to see the artist’s hand in the work.
I have a BA in Viseual Art and French Literature; my two theses were a written dissertation on activism in French Literature, and a coloured pencil classical animation. I have an MFA in visual art and my thesis was a written dissertation on my artwork, its context, and the philosophy of language, and a body of artwork including fake forms of communication and a 20' airplane.
